Washington Pricing to Increase in 2024

At Northwest Lien, we are committed to transparency, encouraging honesty and understanding in the lien filing process, our service, and even our pricing. With that, we will be making changes to our pricing in 2024 and wanted to provide our customers with context. Please read the information below, and reach out to us if you have any questions; we appreciate your trust and business as we move forward into the new year.

Why is Our Washington Pricing Increasing in 2024?

Earlier this year, the fee to record most documents in Washington state increased by $100 as a result of HB 1474, a bill passed during the 2023 legislative session. The purpose of the surcharge is to fund state and local programs that promote low-income housing, eviction prevention, and homelessness services. The fee change has an effective date of January 1, 2024.

In direct response to HB 1474, we will be increasing our pricing for Washington filings as of January 1 to cover the additional statewide fees we will be incurring for each filed lien and notice. We want to be clear that we are not raising our prices to increase profit but to be in step with the mandated fees imposed by Washington state.

What Will Our Pricing Look Like in 2024?

For simplicity, our pricing has always been the same for our clients in both Washington and Oregon. Given the fees for filing in Washington have increased significantly in the past three years, however, while Oregon filing fees have remained mostly consistent, we have decided to split the pricing by state to be fair to our clients in Oregon. With this, pricing for documents filed in Oregon will stay the same.

Below is our pricing by state for 2024, effective January 1.

Washington: Lien prices increasing by $100 to cover statewide fee increases.

  • Preliminary Notice: $45
  • Lien: $529
  • Lien Rush: $724
  • Lien Release: $485 (for collections under $10K)

Oregon: Prices will not change.

  • Preliminary Notice: $45
  • Lien: $429
  • Lien Rush: $624
  • Lien Release: $385 (for collections under $10K)
